Online training: Measurement Uncertainty in Practice. Level 1: Adept (ENGLISH)

Pierwotna cena wynosiła: 1230,00 zł.Aktualna cena wynosi: 861,00 zł. z VAT

Give me just six hours to transform you into a Measurement Uncertainty adept—someone who truly understands, accurately calculates, and confidently applies this tool in practice.

This course is designed for you, even if:

  • You lack a formal background in mathematics or statistics. I skip the academic jargon and focus on what works in the lab.

  • You’ve attended other trainings that felt like „theoretical mush.” If you’ve been overwhelmed by impenetrable formulas and vague definitions in the past, this session is the antidote.

We move past the dry theory to give you a clear, step-by-step methodology that you can implement immediately.

Training Course: Measurement Uncertainty in Practice

Dimensional and Angular Measurements

  • Duration: 1 day (approx. 6 hours of core content + breaks)

  • Suggested Schedule: 08:00 – 15:00 or 09:00 – 16:00 (UTC +1)

  • Next session: contact me for details
  • Format: Live Online Training

  • Invoicing: VAT invoice available. For alternative payment methods or pro-forma invoices, please contact: kontakt@metrologia-blog.pl

Main Objective

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to independently identify uncertainty components, construct an uncertainty budget for basic length and angle measurements, and correctly interpret and report results in compliance with current international guidelines (GUM, EA-4/02, ISO 14253-1).

Detailed Schedule and Agenda

08:45 – 09:00 | Login & Technical Check

  • Participant onboarding, agenda overview, and ground rules.

09:00 – 10:30 | Module 1: Why is Uncertainty Critical?

  • Introduction: „The True Value does not exist” – understanding the essence of measurement.

  • Key Concepts Demystified:

    • Measurement Error vs. Measurement Uncertainty – why they are not the same.

    • Precision and Trueness (the components of Accuracy).

    • Corrections and their application.

    • The Measurement Equation (Mathematical Model).

  • Regulatory Framework & Key Documents:

    • GUM (ISO/IEC Guide 98-3): The „Bible” of uncertainty – practical implications.

    • EA-4/02 M:2022: European guidelines – essential for accredited laboratories and beyond.

    • ISO 14253-1: Decision rules – how uncertainty affects the Statement of Conformity with specifications (critical for Quality Control).

10:30 – 10:45 | Coffee Break

10:45 – 12:15 | Module 2: Identification of Uncertainty Sources

  • Type A vs. Type B Evaluation:

    • Type A Method: The power of statistics. When and how to apply it.

    • Type B Method: Expert knowledge and external data. Where to find reliable information?

  • Mind Mapping Uncertainty Sources: What influences your result?

    • Analysis using the PISMOEA framework (Personnel, Instrument, Software, Method, Object, Environment, Analysis).

12:15 – 13:00 | Lunch Break

13:00 – 14:30 | Module 3: Step-by-Step Uncertainty Budget (Workshop)

  • Rules of the Game: How to combine uncertainties.

    • Sensitivity Coefficients.

    • Law of Propagation of Uncertainty.

    • Degrees of Freedom and the Coverage Factor ($k$) – calculating Expanded Uncertainty ($U$).

  • Workshop 1: Uncertainty budget for measuring a gauge block using a micrometer.

    • Step 1: Defining the mathematical model.

    • Step 2: Identifying and quantifying components.

    • Step 3: Building the uncertainty budget table in Excel.

    • Step 4: Calculating Combined Standard Uncertainty and Expanded Uncertainty.

14:30 – 14:45 | Coffee Break

14:45 – 15:45 | Module 4: Interpretation of Results and Statements of Conformity

  • Correct Reporting of Measurement Results: How to present data to be complete and transparent for auditors and clients.

  • Introduction to ISO 14253-1: Acceptance Zone, Rejection Zone, and the „Uncertainty Range.”

  • Practical Decision Rules in Quality Control (Risk vs. Cost).

15:45 – 16:00 | Summary & Q&A Session

Training Materials for Participants

  • PDF Presentation (comprehensive course notes).

  • Excel Spreadsheet: A functional uncertainty calculator template.

  • Uncertainty Source Checklist.

  • Certificate of Completion.
